Portugal Ranks as Top Destination for Spanish Digital Tourists

Date:

According to recent data, Spanish digital tourists choose Portugal as their favorite vacation destination. This is no surprise to those who have visited the country before, as Portugal boasts a unique combination of breathtaking natural scenery, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality.

The report provided by the Spanish Association of Digital Economy (Adigital) reveals that Spaniards prefer international travel despite being 21% more expensive than domestic travel. The report further revealed that Spanish tourists visited Portugal, most opting to book their holidays online.

Adigital alongside Cocktail Analysis, a consultancy technology, established the study “Evolution of the Spanish Digital Traveller (2019-2022) to find changes in habits caused by Covid-19. The study showed, among other things, that Portugal continues to dominate the preferences of Spaniards. The study showed that Spanish digital tourists already traveled as much as they did before the breakout of the pandemic.

According to a report by Portugal News, local reservations in Spain peaked as 9 of 10 travelers made reservations in Spain due to travel restrictions during the covid. The report further stated that there was stability in the tourism market between 2021 and 2022 as destinations in Spain and outside Spain were in a ratio of 80 to 20.

The report showed that while 68% of Spanish digital tourists prefer to travel within the Euro Zone, 11% of them chose the Caribbean, while 6% of the travelers prefer the Middle East.

Tourism officials in Portugal are thrilled with the continued interest from Spanish digital tourists and are working to ensure that the country remains an attractive destination for visitors. Efforts are being made to improve digital infrastructure and connectivity and promote lesser-known regions of the country that offer unique experiences for tourists.

The data shows that Portugal’s allure as a holiday destination for Spanish digital tourists is growing stronger. With its stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality, it’s no wonder Portugal is quickly becoming a favorite among those looking for an unforgettable vacation experience.

  1. I can definitely see why. Close-by and Portugal seems to be a fabulous country. We only laid over for a few hours earlier this year but the city seemed awesome as we descended. Brilliant-looking spot.
