The report provided by the Spanish Association of Digital Economy (Adigital) reveals that Spaniards prefer international travel despite being 21% more expensive than domestic travel. The report further revealed that Spanish tourists visited Portugal, most opting to book their holidays online.

Resilience Amidst Pandemic: Insights and Tourism Stability

Adigital alongside Cocktail Analysis, a consultancy technology, established the study “Evolution of the Spanish Digital Traveller (2019-2022) to find changes in habits caused by Covid-19. The study showed, among other things, that Portugal continues to dominate the preferences of Spaniards. The study showed that Spanish digital tourists already traveled as much as they did before the breakout of the pandemic.

According to a report by Portugal News, local reservations in Spain peaked as 9 of 10 travelers made reservations in Spain due to travel restrictions during the pandemic. The report further stated that there was stability in the tourism market between 2021 and 2022 as destinations in Spain and outside Spain were in a ratio of 80 to 20.

The report showed that while 68% of Spanish digital tourists prefer to travel within the Euro Zone, 11% of them chose the Caribbean, while 6% of the travelers prefer the Middle East.

  1. I can definitely see why. Close-by and Portugal seems to be a fabulous country. We only laid over for a few hours earlier this year but the city seemed awesome as we descended. Brilliant-looking spot.
