Thomas Cook (India) Limited and SOTC Travel have launched a new range of Northern Lights tours for the 2024-2025 season, capitalizing on significant solar activity that enhances the chances of viewing the Aurora Borealis.

These Arctic tours include popular destinations like Rovaniemi (Finland), Tromso (Norway), Kiruna (Sweden), and Murmansk (Russia). Travelers can enjoy breathtaking views of the Northern Lights alongside activities such as husky sledding, reindeer safaris, and snowmobiling.

The tours also offer authentic local experiences, including ice-floating and king crab fishing, as well as cultural interactions with the indigenous Sami people. Accommodations range from Arctic tree houses and glass igloos to ice hotels.

Rajeev Kale, President & Country Head of Holidays, MICE, and Visa at Thomas Cook, noted the solar maximum season’s significance in driving demand for these Arctic experiences. The offerings cater to various traveler segments, including Millennials, Gen Z, couples, and families.

S.D. Nandakumar, President and Country Head of Holidays and Corporate Tours at SOTC, emphasized the company’s 75th anniversary by introducing curated experiential tours that reflect the preferences of Indian travelers. 

He highlighted the rising demand for experiential travel, particularly among those from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

The launch of these Northern Lights tours addresses the growing appetite for unique travel experiences among Indians, driven by increased disposable income and social media influence.
